Recent Sponsors and GTS 3

Unfortunately, Vancouver got SLAMDUNKED by approximately 20cm of snow in the last two days. I for one, decided not to go to this week's GTS (Group Training Session). I feel extremely guilty about it, so I spent all day shovelling!

Honestly, I woke up at 9am and shovelled until 10:30. This is one time I DON'T like living on a main road (high traffic area), with a CORNER house (two sidewalks instead of one), and a LARGE driveway (where my car is parked). I am honestly sore from head to toe. Not only did I shovel at 9am. I shovelled again at 11:30, 2pm, 4:30pm and 8:30pm. It's honestly been snowing ALL DAY in Vancouver. It's going to be our FIRST white Christmas in 10 years!

I went to St. John Ambulance Division 751's 30th Anniversary Dinner this past Thursday and reconnected with a lot of old friends. From Deepak and Mike, to Ruby and Garth - I haven't seen this many Johners in one place in a long time! I tried getting some fundraising, but I find it really hard to just ask people for money.

I have a friend from high school, Brandon Riley who has given me a few ideas for fundraisers, including my latest idea...BOWLING NIGHT!

So here's the pitch, I'll be organizing a bowling night coming January at Town and Country (still have to ask them if they'll let me host it there). Gonna try and get some donations for pizza and drinks, and I'll be selling tickets for an ALL YOU CAN BOWL night. If anyone's interested, please do email me with your sponsorship ideas, donations of gifts, or if you want to purchase tickets. I'll post more details later on!

Next, I'd like to shoutout to my latest sponsors:
Chris Chan has pledged to donate! Thanks for being a great coach all my years at SJA.
Little Crystal has also donated on behalf of her family as well. Thanks lil me!
Johnny Tran from high schoooool. Always a hard working one, tough to catch him online at any time of the day.
and finally, Victor Chan also from DT whom I've reconnected with lately. He's actually my FIRST donor to have donated without me hasselling him, he somehow found my site??? haha, but really, thanks for your donation! Victor works at Out to See Entertainment as an e-Marketing Strategist. He has a personal page he's working on and I thought I'd give him a plug here. If you're interested in SEO (which I believe is Search Engine Optimization), please visit his page at http://members.shaw.ca/calebchan/index.html. Thanks for helping me set up Google Analytics!

My Second Training Day

Sorry for not updating all week! I've been quite busy at work! BUT!!! I've been keeping up with my training!

Monday is a rest day, I was very very sore. Kind of like a penguin type of sore. Luongo's groin pains? I feel ya dude!

Tuesday is also a rest day, so what I did instead was my Turbo Jam workout at home. Luckily no one's around to witness it.

Wednesday is a run day. The forecast said it will rain but luckily it didn't. Right after work, I went outside and ran for 1/2 hour back and forth at Jones Park, very nicely paved road there. However, I discovered that the iPod original headphones REALLY SUCK because they don't stay in your ears very well.

Thursday is a rest day so once again I did Turbo Jam, it's quite tiring actually. Did a bit of Yoga on the Wii Fit as well to stretch out some really pained muscles. I'm really feeling the workout.

Friday is a run day again, but it was pouring rain outside. I woke up at 6:45 to get on the elliptical for 1/2 hour, it was the best I could do since I was so sore from a week of working out. Needless to say, it was a very very tiring day for me.

Sunday is our second GTS. Vancouver witnessed our first snowfall on Saturday night. I woke up to my car covered with over 6 inches of snow :( Luckily I got a handy snow scraper courtesy of Rogers Wireless and my Uncles James :). Veronica drove us to Granville Island at 8am, I'm surprised people came today! It was icy and snowy during our entire run.

It was also the fundraising fair today, I'm very excited! I learned a lot of very useful information that I will apply towards my campaign. I'll post some pictures when I can get them from Bonnie.

Shoutout to my latest sponsors:
Karman my cousin.

My First Training Day

This morning, I got up bright and early at 7:40 to get ready for my first day of training.
We arrived at Granville Island shortly after 8 and began our stretch. It's good to see almost everybody out! Everyone is very pumped about our first run.

The full marathon group will be running a 6km run and the half marathon group will be running a 4km run. I figured I should start a bit slower and ran with the half marathon group.

At first, I thought it went pretty well, but after the beginning distance, my muscles started whining. They're telling me to stop, but I keep saying to myself "NO, you KEEP GOING!" At about the halfway mark, my cousin was trying to get to the washroom, but it was so early, it was closed. Poor girl had to race to the 2k mark to get to the washroom. I think I found my pace buddy! Monique from Australia originally was at about the same pace as me. We got to chat for a bit while running. Coach Mike says we should run at a "conversational pace". This is actually one of those times I wish I didn't have to talk.

The key for today's training is 10 minute run 1 minute walk...I think I was more of a 4:1 ratio haha. My time today for the 4k: 40 minutes

In addition, I also got some more sponsors in the last two days.
Darren Wong: Thanks for taking the time out of studying for those boring accounting finals to check out my blog and donate!
Auntie Veronica, Uncle Ken, and Uncle Charlie: Thanks for supporting me! I will work hard!
Yee Ma Maureen and Por Por: Thanks for believing I can do it!
and finally
Neo Code Software - Joshua Paul: Although I only worked for you for one summer, I want to thank you for keeping in touch and supporting me in my training!

TNT Kickoff Night And...SPONSORS!

So the kick off party was tonight, I got to meet some great people! I'm in team Yellow with a big group of awesome girls. Laura is our mentor, she's really nice. The people in the pictures are as follows: Mary the campaign director. VERONICA (whom we all know and love) is the campaign coordinator. Mike our running coach. The shots on the bottom include ladies from our table. Yellow team there in the middle and finally the entire run team for the year! I'm getting really excited. Our first run is this Sunday. It's going to be a 4k run/jog around the Granville Island Area!

Once again, shout out to my sponsors! Hit who bit! He has the perma-sleepy head/stoned look, but the coolest half Asian I know in the US of A hehe...thanks for the big donation! To Simon: hopefully you get better soon, you always seem to be injury prone. Thanks for your donation. And finally, my good friend Andy: don't worry about the weight you're gaining in med school right now, we'll work it off in a good run once your finals are done for the semester. Thanks for your donation :)

Woot more sponsors!

It's raining again in Vancouver today and I'm feeling quite glum. Some good news today though, TWO MORE SPONSORS!

Tygo of the Legion lol, our "accountant" in the guild. Always a wise one, with a kid that's cute as a button. Thanks for your donation, I'll definitely work my butt off.

Thank you JEUNESSA! My bestest friend in the world. I TOLD you to keep the money for yourself once your bears sell. Please support her etsy page! Jeunessa makes all these awesome crafts by hand and sells them on the popular site, etsy! Although, I think she sold everything already. But she has plenty more later! :)

Thank you everyone that has supported me thus far. Kick off is in 2 days!
